Girls golf team battles wind in Fruita
The Moffat County High School girls varsity golf team competed Monday at Adobe Creek National Golf Course in Fruita despite winds of up to 50 miles per hour.
Head coach Ann Marie Roberts said a wind rule was put into effect, meaning if a ball was moved while it was sitting on the green, it could be replaced.
Senior Sam Fox led the way for the Bulldogs with a 102, and despite shooting well over her average, earned a top-10 finish as everyone struggled against the wind.
The Bulldogs will replace a tournament cancelled earlier in the season with a tournament at noon Monday at Bookcliff Golf Course in Grand Junction.
The following are each golfers scores from Monday:
(Name — year — score)
• Sam Fox — senior — 102

• Katie Rice — freshman — 118
• Shianna Dockins — sophomore — 123
• Katelyn Peroulis — freshman — 142
