Sports Briefs for Jan. 14, 2012: Mandatory youth basketball meeting set for Wednesday

Moffat County Youth Basketball will host a mandatory parents and players meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Sandrock Elementary School, 201 E. Ninth St.

Any interested players and their parents must attend.

Players will register for their respective divisions. Boys and girls sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade divisions are available.

All players must sign an insurance and liability waiver at the meeting.

A $50 registration fee and $20 uniform deposit must also be paid at the meeting.

Team entry into the Yampa Valley Classic Tournament in Craig is free, but the number of players who attend any out-of-town tournaments will divide the cost of tournaments evenly.

Boys teams will begin practice Jan. 23 and girls will begin practice in February.

No player will be allowed to practice or play in games without payment of fees and completion of medical and waiver forms.

For additional information, call Amy Peck at 824-6078, or Luke Tucker at 326-6335.

Youth basketball coaches needed

Moffat County Youth Basketball is looking for any individuals interested in coaching sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade boys and girls basketball teams for the upcoming season.

Coaching responsibilities include hosting practices during the week, typically twice, and participating in regional tournaments throughout February, March and possibly April.

The annual Yampa Valley Classic Youth Basketball tournament in Craig is tentatively scheduled for mid-March.

Coaching selections will be made before a coaches’ and parents’ meeting scheduled for mid-January.

Interested individuals should reply to mcybhoops@aol.com.

Adult indoor soccer through March

An adult co-ed soccer league, which began earlier this month, will play Saturdays at the Boys & Girls Club of Craig, 1324 E. U.S. Highway 40.

Games will be played from 7 to 9 p.m. every Saturday through March 17. The cost is $2 per night, per player.

Tennis flats must be worn to play and all skill levels are encouraged to come play.

For more information, call Bill Sawer at 824-0116.
