Sports Briefs for Dec. 26, 2011: Basketball coaches needed

Moffat County Youth Basketball is looking for any individuals interested in coaching the sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade boys and girls basketball teams for the upcoming season.

Coaching responsibilities include holding practices during the week, typically twice, and participating in regional tournaments throughout February, March and possibly April.

The annual Yampa Valley Classic Youth Basketball tournament in Craig is tentatively scheduled for mid-March.

Coaching selections will be made before a coach and parent meeting scheduled for mid-January.

Water aerobics start Jan. 9

Craig Parks and Recreation is now taking registration for a water aerobics class.

Classes are from 7 to 8 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays at the Moffat County High School pool, 900 Finley Lane.

The course starts Jan. 9 and runs through March 14.

The drop-in fee is $3 per class or $50 for the session.

Ski club open for registration

Craig Parks and Recreation is now accepting registration for ski club.

Registration is $10 and open to everyone.

Members can receive $53 lift tickets on Saturdays in Steamboat Springs.

Regular tickets in Steamboat this year are $99 for adults, $85 for teens, and $60 for children.

Register for the 2012 Trailbusters

Trailbusters is now accepting registration for the 2012 season.

The program is put on by Craig Parks and Recreation and provides ski or snowboard lessons for youth 6 to 15 years old.

The program will take place Jan. 21 and 28 and Feb. 4, 11 and 25.

Registration is $295 with transportation provided. Lift tickets are $29 each day.

Ski and snowboard rentals are left up to the participant.

The deadline to register is Jan. 6.
