Sports briefs for August 1, 2011: MCHS wrestling team to host prime rib dinner

The annual Moffat County High School wrestling team prime rib dinner will take place Thursday at MCHS, 900 Finley Lane.

Guests amay eat any time between 5:30 and 8:30 p.m.

Tickets are $50 per couple, and discounts are available for children.



Dinner includes prime rib, baked potato, salad, corn on the cob, dessert bar and soft drinks.

To purchase tickets, see any MCHS wrestler or call coach Roman Gutierrez at 824-7645.



Physicals available Tuesday at clinic

Craig Middle School and Moffat County High School athletes who plan on participating in athletics in 2011-12 can get sports physicals Tuesday at The Memorial Hospital Medical Clinic, 785 Russell St.

Appointments run from 5 to 7 p.m. on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The cost is $15 per athlete.

Paperwork will be signed following the physical stating the athlete is fit to compete.

Steamboat volleyball camp this week

The Whiteout Volleyball Club of the Yampa Valley will host a two-day volleyball camp Tuesday and Wednesday at Steamboat Spring High School, 45 Maple St.

The camp is for girls in the fifth through eighth grades, and all skill levels are welcome.

The camp will run from 9 a.m. to noon both days in the gymnasium.

The cost is $50 for both days or $30 for one day. Proceeds benefit the nonprofit club, which provides volleyball instruction and competition each spring.
