A single-vehicle accident off Moffat County Road 18 on Sunday evening resulted in one death and one arrest, according to law enforcement officials.

Colorado State Patrol Cpl. Brian J. Bagley said the driver lost control on a curve and the vehicle rolled over. There were two people in the vehicle.

“There was one fatality,” Bagley said.

An investigation is ongoing and Bagley would not comment as to whether or not criminal conduct is suspected.

“We will go down that road when we see it,” he said. “We’re way too early on stuff right now.”

A man at the scene was frisked and taken into custody by state troopers.

“We did arrest somebody in reference to this case,” said Bagley. “He was booked into jail on charges related to this accident.”

The next step is for an accident reconstruction team to investigate the scene and collect information, Bagley said. After that, the data collected will need to be analyzed — standard procedure for these types of accidents.

“To process a scene like this will take a couple hours, at least,” he said.

The Craig Daily Press will update this story as more information becomes available.
