Representatives from Shell and its local contractors are hosting a meeting Tuesday in Hamilton to update residents about work scheduled to begin this spring.
The meeting will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Hamilton Community Center, 17400 S. Colorado Highway 13. Dessert and coffee will be provided.
On the agenda for the evening are updates about construction plans for Colorado Highway 317, electrical upgrades along the highway that will affect residents and Shell’s policies for protecting wildlife while it conducts exploratory drilling operations of the Niobrara Oil shale formation.
Representatives from Steamboat Springs-based Connell Resources will lead discussions for much of the meeting. Connell is Shell’s local contractor to conduct road construction on Colo. 317.
Connell representatives are expected to present their plan for road improvements, which are slated to begin in about two weeks. How the construction will affect traffic will be discussed.
Shell officials also are planning to host an open house in May in Craig to update residents about plans for this year.
