Senior Spotlight for Feb. 6, 2012

Reruns seem to be what I end up watching on TV.

“Golden Girls” has been my pick lately. I’ve listened more than watched.

The storyline was about having someone when you need support emotionally, about having a condition or a mind-boggling problem that makes you wonder about how you’re going to live through a certain thing.

My thoughts went way back — how many times did I have a situation that I considered so bad? Too many that I don’t want to think about.

My dad was my leaning post, and I could count on him to help any time. In his way, he could help me through any tough times in any way, shape or form.

The recipe is always love, faith, eternal hope, forgiveness, and patience.

I always taught my son, Andrew, who had leukemia, to trust in the Lord. Things happen and some shake the earth.

I still have moments of uncertainty. Thanks to my family working together, we always make it.

So did the person in the rerun with a little help from her friends.

Happy birthday to Jane Brown, and belated happy birthday to Beatrice Roe, Jaceson Van Grandt, and Marie Switzer.

Get well/speedy recovery to Jane Brown, Theresa Rendon, Tillie Gallegos, Rose Gomez and Ron Moran.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4265 dinner is scheduled for 5 p.m. today.

The noon potluck is scheduled for Friday at Sunset Meadows I, 633 Ledford St. Bingo follows.
