— One way we can tell autumn is near is seeing children getting ready for school. Here at Sunset Meadows we had two young ladies, Mandy Grant and Robyn Hertzog, who worked during summer break and are getting ready to go back to college.

There were 63 at the senior potluck Aug. 13. John Russell gave the blessing and the following were present: Cole Kraft, Samantha Fox, Tom Ward, Clysta Carey, Terry Riechman, May McIntrye, James and Kathy Compestine, Hilda Schmidt, Helen Hall, Lucille Talkington, Ada Moyer, Avis Self, Billie Young, John and Faye Russell, Marion Kagie, Lit Anderson, Carey and Bertha Trantham, Manford Grubb, Doris McFarland, Rosetta Harper, Clif Garvey, Mildred Herring, Tony and Shirley Sharp, Ralph and Faye Paulson, Lottie Skidmore, Mary Preece, Chuck and Leetha Hellman, Jean Muhme, Elsie Chase, Gen Shultz, Betty Reece, Earl and Beulah Kline, Mildred Peterson, Thersa Moyer, Forrest and Marion Conrow, George and Laura Swanson, Joe Rotter, Aldean Schanck, Alek Kaye, Herb McCool, Earl Davis Alma Crouch, Lydia Rader, EK and Ethel Calloway, Alma Smith, Minnie Sheard Francis Chisom and Mary Jo Brown and 11 from Rainbow Care Center.

Rose Poff’s sister, Margaret Marshall, from Kingman, Ariz., and her sister, Jewel Callhan from Grand Junction, Colo., were among the family members who were here for a family reunion.

Nina Lawton is back from Phoenix and just in time for Lit Anderson’s surprise birthday party held Aug. 15 at Sunset Meadows I. The party was given by Thelma Sanders and friends Margaret Thompson, Verniece Self, Dorothy Thompson, Flo Hayes, Lucille Talkington, Helen Hall, Hazel Linzenmeyer, Lydia Rader, Imogene Kiever and Martha Shaffer.

Clysta Carey’s granddaughter, Terry Riechman, from Littleton, Colo., had lunch with her Aug. 13.

Everyone wishes Ruth Boggs a speedy recovery.

The birthday angel is Hilda Schmidt.

The lunch-out was at the Truck Stop Aug. 14 and I am, as usual, in “The Center of Things.”
