Semi and truck collide at 6th Street and Yampa Avenue Monday
Two vehicles were involved in an accident at the corner of 6th Street and Yampa Avenue just before 2 p.m. Monday.
A Shamrock Foods delivery truck that was headed west on 6th Street collided with a 2002 Ford utility vehicle that was headed north on Yampa Ave when the 68 year old driver of the utility vehicle failed to stop at the red light, said Craig Police Department Commander Jerry DeLong.
The Craig Police Department, Moffat County Sheriff’s Office, Craig Fire/Rescue and Memorial Regional Health Emergency Response Team responded to the accident.
The driver of the smaller truck was treated at the scene by EMTs. The other occupant of the small truck, a dog was removed from the vehicle by Craig Fire/Rescue before it was towed away. Crews cleared the intersection of debris.
The condition of the occupants and the names of the parties involved have not been released.
With an above-average snowpack following a snowy winter, local firefighters and wildlife experts are expecting a mild fire season this year, especially at higher elevations.
