Craig — Girl Scouts touting Samoas, Thin Mints, Tagalongs and other favorites have returned to Craig storefronts to tempt passers-by with their brightly colored boxes of tasty cookies.
Kyanna Woods, 12, Kristi Barnes, 10, and Vanessa Libbee, 13, were some of the Girl Scouts stationed at Walgreens in Craig from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. The three had set up shop, including signs and a stand displaying available cookies.
Although the girls had reached their goal of selling 100 boxes each, they are continuing to sell cookies to raise money for their upcoming sleepover at the Denver Zoo.
“I’d like to sell about 200 boxes, which I’ve never hit since I’m so old,” Vanessa said.
With that goal in mind, the girls were determined sellers Sunday. They had to divert at least a bit of their energy to keeping warm, too.
“I just keep moving around and going place to place,” Kristi said.
The girls made signs to wave along Victory Way to draw customers in.
The girls agreed that the cookies are delicious and more fun to sell than other treats. They have until March 3 to sell cookies, and part of the money raised will be donated to Sandrock Ridge.
“Being a part of this shows them how to bond together and work things out,” said Kyanna’s mom, Tammi. “We’ve worked through a lot of problems.”
