Season champs reign in Craig Youth Baseball
Craig Parks and Recreation’s youth baseball season wrapped Tuesday night as the two heavy hitters of the year each closed out the schedule with a tournament championship at Woodbury Sports Complex.
Winning the 8- to 10-year-old age division was Moffat Limestone, coached by Greg Neal and James Neton. The group faced off against the Craig Daily Press crew, going into extra innings to win 3-2.
Moffat Limestone’s roster included Colt Cowboy Call, Tristan Counce, Jayden Evenson, Jon Gonzales, Javen Hippely, Mitchell Hume, Darrick Miller, Josh Neal, Patrick Neton, Jovany Quezada, Grant Sis, Tristan Smith, Rylan Vallejos and team manager Cash Beckett.
For ages 11 to 13, the victor was the Hayden Tigers, defeating the Hayden Outdoors team 10-0.
The Tigers were coached by Mike Crum and Tom Lindley with players Dylan Brady, Tanner Ciufo, Micah Crum, Cody Hawn, Joe Hockaday, Dorian Hotchkiss, Kodi Ingols, Noah Lind, Jake Lindley, Owen Miller, Kalob More, Brytton Nelson, Chase Preston and Israel Santos.
A derailment in Craig Monday morning shut down a portion of tracks until crews could clear several train cars full of coal that had tipped over.
