Samuel Cloward: Oregon

I am a fifth-grader from Hoover Elementary School in Medford, Ore. Medford is about 35 miles north of the California border. Our main industry used to be timber, but now we are mainly a service industry town. We have Southern Oregon University nearby in Ashland, home of the Shakespearean Festival. Our population is about 60,000. We live in a beautiful area, surrounded by mountains, rivers and parks. Crater Lake National Park is about 50 miles from here.

I am writing to you because I am hoping to learn about your town and your state for a project I am doing at school. If you want to send me postcards or anything (food items, clothing, recipes, photos, etc.) that show me something about your state, I really would appreciate it!

I also need to know whether readers have visited Oregon, maybe even Medford. I think you would like it here.

Thank you, and I hope to hear from you. My goal is receive all items representing my state by April 22.

Again, thank you for your time.

Sincerely

Samuel Cloward
