Rotary sponsoring home tour

Christina M. Currie

For some, no expense is spared in getting their homes spruced up for the holidays in a way that spreads cheer to everyone.

Four such people are opening their homes to the community to share ideas and help a local civic organization raise funds.

From noon to 4 p.m. Dec. 11, residents will have the opportunity to tour four Craig homes.

“This is a way to get the community to interact with each other and recognize people who put tons of time and effort into decorating for the holidays,” said committee chair and Rotary Club member Samantha Johnston.

The Rotary Club sponsors the holiday home tour. Participants purchase a program for $5 that describes each home and then can tour each home on the program. A list of the featured homes will be posted in participating downtown businesses and published in the Craig Daily Press. Visitors can purchase a program at the first home they visit.

The tour generally features homes that have been newly built or remodeled and are dressed for the holidays. Nominations usually pour in — unsolicited.

“Everybody knows somebody who has done amazing things to their home,” Johnston said.

The fund-raiser generally nets the Rotary Club $300 to $500.

“People respond well,” Johnston said.

The proceeds are used locally to fund Rotary Club scholarships and other programs.

Homes featured on this year’s tour include:

n Gail and Greg Kitchen: 1005 Pershing St.

n Dean and Brenda Hollenbeck: 107 Moffat County Road 22.

n Sheila Brennise: 5801 Highway 394.

n Gail Severson: 866 Villa View Drive.
