Richard James Walls

Former Craig resident Richard James Walls, of Grand Junction, Colo., died Aug. 26, 2002, at his home. He was 71.

Walls was born on a farm east of Amarillo, Texas, on Oct. 28, 1930, to Roy Glenn and Norine Ruth Walls.

He married Barbara Faye Bruner on March 22, 1952. They lived in Texas until 1964, when they moved to Grand Junction to farm and raise cattle and horses.

When they retired, they traveled and lived in Arizona in the winter.

Walls is survived by his daughters, Laura Lee Celayeta (Tom), of Fruita, Colo., and Debra Marie Duley Walls, of South Lake Tahoe, Calif.; sons, Roy Clifton “Cliff” Walls (Paula), of Loma, Colo., and Ray L. Walls of Grand Junction; sisters, Hazel Dockery of Grand Junction, Ruth Houston, of Houston, Texas, and Velma Sellman, of Elgin, Texas; brother, Roy Clifton Walls, of Boerne, Texas; grandchildren, Lindsay Lou Walls, of Ft. Collins, Colo., Tanner Lane Walls, of Ft. Collins, Sarah Faye Duley of South Lake Tahoe, Chelsea Rose Walls, of Grand Junction, Michael James Celayeta, of Grand Junction, Brian Jose Celayeta of Grand Junction and Jeremy Tomas Celayeta of Ft. Collins.

Walls was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Donald Kent; sister, Linda Sue Clark; and nephew, Calvin Stanley Nichols.

Services were held Aug. 30, 2002, at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary.
