Resort Group expanding
Office building under construction on Snapdragon Way
Steamboat Springs — Construction is under way on a three-story office building at 675 Snapdragon Way in the Central Park business district, just east of the Taco Bell/Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant.
The new building will be the third built by Resort Group principal Andy Van Baak at the location, near the intersection of Pine Grove Road and Snapdragon Way. The Resort Group oversees several independently operating businesses, including Mountain Resorts, one of Steamboat’s largest vacation rental management companies. It also has a beach division, which manages resorts on the Texas Gulf Coast.
The new building totals 18,869 square feet, architect Jan Kaminski of Mountain Architecture Design Group told city planning officials. Of that total, 13,905 square feet will be above ground. The basement floor will house a large laundry facility to support the condominium projects that Resort Group serves in Steamboat.
The building will feature covered porches designed to give the structure a residential feel. Exterior materials include brown wood siding, beige stucco and dry stack rock.
City Planner Sid Rivers said the building will not include affordable housing required by the city’s inclusionary zoning ordinance, because plans were submitted to the city prior to the passage of the ordinance.
