Republicans to gather at dinner

Moffat County Republicans are ready to make some introductions.

Following a tradition almost as old as the party itself, the annual Moffat County Lincoln Day Dinner on Saturday will feature the party’s local candidates for this year’s elections. In addition, the dinner will feature State Treasurer Mark Hillman, unconfirmed guest speakers state Sen. Jack Taylor and Rep. Al White.

The Craig Holiday Inn will host Saturday’s event, with a social hour beginning at 6 p.m. and dinner following at 7 p.m.

The Lincoln Day Dinner is an annual fundraiser for the Moffat County Republicans, and the cost to attend is $35.

“We hold the annual dinner to introduce candidates to local Republican groups,” said local party chairman Dr. Ron Danner. “It’s a national coming-out party tradition.”

Local positions coming before the voters in November include the office of sheriff, county clerk and recorder, treasurer, assessor, and coroner.

A silent auction also is planned to raise funds for the party.

For information or to donate items to the auction, call Nikki McLeslie at 629-8817 or 824-7527.
