Recreation center proposal is OK, funding through use tax is not

To The Editor:
I have been thinking about the idea of building a recreation center. I am not against the idea of a center, if that is what the people of Craig vote in, but I am against the use tax for autos.

Does the city council and the committee for the center remember that the voters voted the tax out as an unfair tax?

I live in Shadow Mountain and I can’t vote on this issue, but what if the city decides to annex us after the center, college, and maybe hospital were built, and time filled in the space surrounding Shadow Mountain?

We would be paying on a tax we never got to vote on.

I realize no one can stop progress but I have heard people say they have come to live in Craig and Moffat County because they like the community as they found it.

Why do they keep pushing for change? Any community can only stand so many taxes! We could be getting overloaded.

Remember, 25 years is a long time to pay out on unfair taxes.

Us folks in Shadow Mountain help support the city. We also shop in Craig.

Vote no for a use tax.

James E Terry,

Craig
