Rebecca R. Miller: Supporting our youth
October 15, 2011
To the editor:
This summer, a group of children from the Boys & Girls Club of Craig built a cluster of barn wood birdhouses. These children put the houses together to donate in memory of a club member's mother who recently passed away.
In building these houses, the children learned about construction and their ability to create something with their hands, but it also instilled a sense of competence, usefulness, belonging, and most importantly, the value behind giving back to the community.
On behalf of these children, I would like to say job well done.
I am proud of the Youth for Unity kids at the Boys & Girls Club of Craig.
I feel it's important we support our kids by providing recognition and commendations for their accomplishments.

Children need to know they too can make a difference in the world.
Thank you to everyone in our community who reaches out to support our youth.
