Kellie Jorgensen hopes her love for animals will turn into a career.

“I want to get into marine mammal training,” she said. “Maybe marine biology, zoology or animal psychology.”

Jorgensen, who will be a junior at Moffat County High School, said her love for animal’s stems from two trips to SeaWorld at an early age.

“I’ve liked them ever since,” she said.

Jorgensen has lived in Craig for a little less than seven years. She moved from Douglas, Wyo., when she was in fourth grade and said while the transition was tough, she likes Craig.

“I’ve gotten used to it over the years,” she said. “(Craig) is more like home to me now.”

She enjoys Craig because of its small size and friendly atmosphere, she said.

“It is a nice little town,” she said. “Kind of like Douglas, not too busy.”

In her free time, Jorgensen likes to experience the outdoors, listen to country music and hang out with her friends and family.

Jorgensen describes herself as outgoing because she likes to talk to and meet new people.

“I can be shy at times,” she said. “But most of the time I’m not.”

When she gets back to school in the fall, Jorgensen said she looks forward to participating on the dance team.

Last year the dance team went to state competition in Denver and she said it was a great experience.

“Even though we didn’t place, it was still a lot of fun,” she said.

Although Jorgensen isn’t sure where she will go to college, she does know one good thing about her anticipated career.

“Hopefully,” she said, ” I’ll be able to live by the beach.”
