Razanno takes over as Bank of the West president

No new faces are expected at the Bank of the West, though a transition is under way.

Longtime employee Stacy Razzano is taking over as the bank’s new president for Tonya Griffith.

Griffith has been in the banking industry for the past 25 years. She has been with the Bank of the West for 13 years, seven of those years as president. Griffith said she is stepping down to pursue an interest of opening an antique store. The shop is expected to open at 525 Colorado St. in a few months, she said.

“My husband and I have an interest in antiques. We have a house full of them,” she said. “That’s going to be a new challenge.”

Griffith and Razzano said they expect a smooth transition. Razzano has been working for the bank for the past 14 years. Griffith said during some of that time she has been “grooming” Razzano for the position.

“She already has a relationship with the customers,” Griffith said of Razzano. “I feel really comfortable about her coming over.”

Griffith said it would be easier to have Razzano as the bank’s new head instead of hiring someone from the outside.

“We’re very fortunate to have someone like Stacy,” she said. “She already has a grasp of what’s going on.”

Razzano said she is looking forward to the change.

“I’m very excited about it,” Razzano said. “I think it’s going to be challenging and exciting.”
