Pregnancy center to host 22nd annual chili supper
Yampa Valley Pregnancy Center will host its annual chili supper and silent auction for the 22nd year on Saturday. Those looking for hearty chili at a low price should head to the event that takes place at 6 p.m. at the Center of Craig located at 601 Yampa Ave. in Craig.
“This is one of our biggest fundraisers of the year,” said Katie Grobe, director of the Pregnancy Center. “It helps us provide diapers and other supplies to families in the area. Without this chili supper we can’t do what we do.”
Last year, the Pregnancy Center raised roughly $4,100. This year, Grobe hopes to raise $5,000.
A silent auction will also be on hand, featuring donated items from businesses across Craig, including Kesters Jewelry, various restaurants like Carelli’s and more.
“It’s phenomenal having the community support our efforts,” Grobe said.
Craig resident Staci Mathers will sing at the event, and the chili is made by Randy Kline, of Craig, each year.
“He gives us his entire day,” Grobe said.
The cost is $8 per person, $12 per couple or $20 for a family of four. For more information, call 970-824-5204.
4:19 a.m. On the 900 block of Industrial Avenue, police in Craig responded to a state parks related incident. Craig police said someone was looking around a business with flashlights, but police found the business secure and no crime had been committed.
