Postal service food drive seeking donations Saturday

The United States Postal Service is continuing its efforts to help those in need this week.

The Stamp Out Hunger event takes place Saturday, and Craig residents can assist just by walking the distance to their mailbox. Place a bag filled with nonperishable food items near your mailbox before your usual pickup time, and postal employees will collect it as they drop off your mail.

Donations also will be accepted through Saturday at the rear entrance of the local post office, 556 Pershing St., which can be accessed on Green Street. Last year, the Craig post office collected about 1.19 tons of materials for the Interfaith Food Bank.

Since starting in 1992, Stamp Out Hunger has collected 1.3 billion pounds of food from 121 million postal customers.
