Pilot & Today publisher Larsen resigns

Staff Report

— Steamboat Pilot & Today Publisher Bryna Larsen announced her resignation Tuesday after 12 years with the newspaper. Her last day is Sept. 8.

Larsen has been the newspaper’s publisher since November 2005, when previous publisher Suzanne Schlicht was named general manager and director of strategic planning for WorldWest LLC, the Pilot & Today’s parent company. As publisher, Larsen oversees the newspaper’s day-to-day operations and is responsible for management of all newspaper departments.

Larsen previously was regional advertising director for the Pilot & Today and Craig Daily Press. She also has served as publisher of the Craig Daily Press, in addition to other roles with the company throughout the past 12 years.

“Bryna Larsen has been a key contributor here during her 12-year tenure,” Schlicht said Wednesday. “She has approached every role she has been assigned with enthusiasm, creativity and a true entrepreneurial spirit. While I am disappointed, her resignation may give us the opportunity to provide career advancement for others within the organization.”

Larsen has accepted a position as president of a new company that will offer products to newspapers nationally and internationally. She will continue to live in Routt County.

“It has been a pleasure to spend the last 12 years with the team at the Steamboat Pilot & Today and Craig Daily Press,” Larsen said. “I will miss the staff the most.

“I have been given incredible opportunities in my career and am grateful to The World Co. and its owners, the Simons family. Without the education I received here, I wouldn’t have been able to move on to the next phase of my career.”

Schlicht said no decisions have been made about who will succeed Larsen as publisher.
