Pete Bergmann: In support of Dave DeRose
To the editor:
Dave DeRose has the personal attributes, business background and community governing experience to be and outstanding county commissioner.
I have known Dave for over two decades and observed him working in a variety of leadership positions. Recently and most directly, as Superintendent of Schools, I worked hand-in-hand with Dave during the Moffat County School District’s bond campaign to build our new middle school and renovate facilities.
Here is why we asked Dave to lead our campaign and why you should cast your vote to elect him as our County Commissioner.
Dave is passionate about Moffat County and a proud citizen who has been involved in diverse and extensive public service. His governing experience includes serving on the Craig City Council from 1995 through 2005, with the last 6 years as Mayor.
Dave also has served or currently serves on numerous other community boards, (too many to list). He is truly a servant “of the people, by the people, for the people.”
Dave is an action oriented problem solver who couples intelligence with common sense to develop ideas and solutions. Although many of Dave’s ideas are original, many of them are the result of listening to input from others and developing the best solution.
When the going gets tough, Dave doesn’t shy away from challenges, but jumps in and fights for solutions he believes in. Although he is a financial conservative, he will not hesitate to support efforts to enhance Moffat County.
Dave’s support of Moffat County educational institutions is ongoing. His leadership and contributions to the development of the CNCC campus and the school district’s bond issue are evidence of his priority to invest in education and future of our community.
Furthermore, Dave’s membership on the school district’s “Commitment to Excellence” committee, board membership and past presidency of the Boys & Girls Club, involvement and support of Young life, and initiation and coaching the Doak Walker Football league are additional examples of Dave’s commitment to our community’s youth.
Dave has “been there, done that.” As a business owner for over 25 years, Dave understands what it takes to navigate through the economic ups and downs of Moffat County and maintain a very successful business.
As a member of the founding board for the business incubator in Moffat County and an active member of the Craig/Moffat EDP, Dave exhibits proactive leadership to enhance the economic development of the region. Dave’s business management skills will be invaluable when managing the diverse business affairs of Moffat County.
In today’s polarized society, which has driven our government into gridlock, compromise and cooperation are nonexistent. Dave has the unique perspective, experience and skill to work cooperatively and synergistically, with multiple constituencies, such as City Council, community boards, staff members and citizens to achieve results.
He has the ability to influence people through motivation, collaboration and persuasion, in order to get things done within the power structure of county government.
Cast your vote for Dave DeRose, an investment in Moffat County.
