Passenger taken to hospital after crash
A car accident on U.S. Highway 40 near mile marker 98 sent one person to the hospital Thursday night.
According to reports from the Colorado State Patrol, a Dodge Neon traveling west on U.S. 40 rear-ended a Chevrolet Blazer at about 6 p.m. Thursday.
A car in front of the Blazer had slowed down for deer on the road, causing the driver of the Blazer, a 17-year-old man, to slam on his brakes, according to reports.
The driver of the Neon, Patricia Foster, 51, of Craig, ran into the back of the blazer, according to reports.
Neither of the drivers was cited after the accident.
The accident occurred near the border of Routt and Moffat counties.
Foster refused medical treatment, according to reports.
The passenger in the Jeep, Mark Rinard, 43, of Craig, complained of neck pains and was taken to The Memorial Hospital in Craig, according to reports.
The Jeep was not damaged in the accident, but the Dodge sustained major front-end damage, according to reports.
Craig Fire/Rescue crews and the Moffat County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the accident.
