Party conventions right around the corner

Craig Daily Press Staff Report

The 2016 Republican National Convention begins Monday in Cleveland and runs through Thursday.

At the convention, approximately 2,470 delegates from all 50 states, the District of Columbia and five U.S. territories will gather to officially nominate the Republican Party’s 2016 presidential candidate.

Colorado GOP Secretary and Moffat County GOP Chair Brandi Meek will be at the convention, but not as voting delegates.

She said it would be her first time attending the Republican National Convention.

“It’s a great opportunity and a great time to be involved,” she said.

On July 25, the 2016 Democratic National Convention kicks off in Philadelphia, and approximately 4,769 Democratic delegates will select their 2016 presidential candidate.
