James D. Eskridge
James D. Eskridge of Dinosaur, Colo., died at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction, Colo., Oct. 14, 1999. He was 69.
On May 15, 1930, in Craig, Colo., he was born to James Thomas and Wilma C. (Chamberlain) Eskridge. He was raised in Craig and CaCity, Colo.
On Oct. 14, 1951, in Grand Junction, he married Bernetha Nelson. He was a heavy equipment operator and mine foreman. He had been a resident of Dinosaur since 1985.
He is survived by his wife; daughters, Judy Eskridge of Hayden, Colo., Joy (Jack) Trout, of Oak Creek and Crystal (Tim) Waack of Detroit, Mich.; sons, Jim Eskridge of Oak Creek and Larry Eskridge of CaCity; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Services were held on Oct. 17, 1999, at First Christian Church. Pallbearers were Clint Eskridge, Jacob Eskridge, Jody Gregory, Shane Eskridge, Rocky Trout and Don Ward. Honorary pallbearers were Tom Peterson, Bill Hayes, Kelly Bissell and Carey Cobb.
Interment was at Craig Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association in care of Grant Mortuary.
The body recovered from a drowning at Harvey Gap Reservoir has been identified.
