Obituary – Cleo Knowles

1914-1999
Cleo Knowles of Baggs, Wyo., died Oct. 11, 1999, at Valley View Manor in Craig, Colo. She was 85.
On April 7, 1914, in Weleetka, Okla., she was born the daughter of John and Peal (Simms) Banta. She was raised and attended school in Oklahoma.
In 1934 in Ada, Okla., she married Henry Preston Halsell who died in 1958.
In 1963 in Rawlins, Wyo., she married Byron Knowles who died in 1998.
Knowles worked for the United States Postal Service as a contract mail carrier. She lived in the Baggs and Rawlings area since 1949.
She is survived by daughters, Dixie (Dee) Oberg of Pahoe, Hawaii, Dorothy Halsell of Baggs and Cindy (E.J.) Mayer of Baggs; son, Bob Halsell of Baggs; sisters, Hazel Cossey of Shawnee, Okla., and Ima Gene Young of Washington; brothers, Marlan Banta of Shawnee, Okla. and Bob Banta of Odessa, Texas; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sister-in-law Jean Deurloo of Apache Junction, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Henry P. Halsell and Byron Knowles; sister, Juanita; and brothers, John and Coy.
A private family service was held.
Memorial donations may be made to the Baggs Senior Center in care of Grant Mortuary.
