Shirley D. Nelson
Shirley D. Nelson of Craig, Colo., died Sept. 8, 1999, at The Memorial Hospital in Craig. She was 67.
On Feb. 4, 1932, in Kersey, Colo., she was born the daughter of Walter and Stella (Elderidge) Thomas.
On Oct. 16, 1951, in Brighton, Colo., she married Cecil Nelson. They moved to Craig in 1978.
She is survived by her husband; daughter, Patricia (Bill) Dugan of El Dorado, Ark.; sons, Rick (Mary) Nelson, Rodney Nelson and Randy Nelson all of Craig, and Andy Nelson of Hayden, Colo.; sisters, Ruth Huffert of Brighton; Hazel Holcomb and Jean Grettler of Denver, and Peggy Betts of Grand Junction, Colo.; brothers, Loyd Thomas of Commerce City, Colo., Larry Thomas of Texas and Harry Thomas of Salida, Colo.; 16 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Bea and Eloise; brothers Alvin, Richard, Everett and Wallace; and a son, Robert Wayne Nelson.
Services were held Sept. 13, 1999, at Grant Mortuary in Craig.
Pallbearers were Andy Nelson, Joe Nelson, Randy Nelson, Dan Nelson, Rick Nelson and Rufus Greigo.
Honorary pallbearers were Ted Nelson, B.J. Nelson, Russell Nelson, Pat Noland, Rodney Nelson and Robert Lynch.
Burial was at Craig Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice in care of Grant Mortuary.
Emergency personnel responded to a motorcycle crash that sent a rider to the hospital Tuesday.
