News briefs for April 13

2-1-1 has been up and running in Moffat and Routt counties since September.
2-1-1 is the complement to 9-1-1 in urgent but nonemergency situations.
It is an easy to remember and universally recognizable number that makes a connection for those who need to get help and don’t know where to go and for those that want to offer help.
Operators are trained referral specialists and can direct callers to services offered by health and human service organizations in government, private and nonprofit agencies.
It is also a great place to receive directions if you want to donate time or goods and not sure where to go.
The service is available from 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Monday through Friday.
After-hour callers will receive follow-up calls the next business day.
You also can reach 2-1-1 by calling their toll free number 1-866-485-0211, or going online at http://www.firstcall211.org.
