Name: Brittney Linsacum

I will be teaching: Second grade at East Elementary



Hometown: Craig

Where I received my education: University of Northern Colorado



Most recent teaching job: Second grade in Phoenix, Ariz.

Favorite book: “You Are Special”

Favorite movie: “The Devil Wears Prada”

Favorite student moment (so far): I have had a lot, but it’s the moment when a struggling student finally really understands the objective they struggled with.

Why I chose to be a teacher: I love working with kids and wanted to be a part of their learning process.

Goal for this school year: To get my students excited about learning and helping them reach their learning goals.

One fun fact about me: I grew up in Craig, but I hate the snow.

Name: Tanner Linsacum

I will be teaching: Science at Moffat County High School

Hometown: Phoenix, Ariz.

Where I received my education: University of Northern Colorado

Most recent teaching job: Science teacher at Thunderbird High School in Phoenix

Favorite book: “The Eagle Has Landed”

Favorite movie: “Wedding Crashers”

Favorite student moment (so far): Watching student-athletes have success both academically and athletically.

Why I chose to be a teacher: To teach content I enjoy studying and to have the opportunity to coach.

Goal for this school year: To provide students an environment where they find success and enjoy the learning process.

One fun fact about me: Most of my extended family lives or have lived in Craig.

Name: Tyler Loyd

I will be teaching: Fifth grade at Ridgeview Elementary

Hometown: Casper, Wyo.

Where I received my education: University of Wyoming

Most recent teaching job: Substitute in Laramie County

Favorite book: “Pillars of the Earth”

Favorite movie: “It’s a Wonderful Life”

Favorite student moment (so far): Students reading their narrative stories to each other with bunches of voice and inflection.

Why I chose to be a teacher: I became a teacher because I love school. School has had a huge positive impact on my life, and I want it to have the same impact on all students.

Goal for this school year: To help my students have an exciting and fun school year while helping them set and achieve high academic and personal goals.

One fun fact about me: I love hockey! I’m excited to start playing again.

Name: Sam McLeod

I will be teaching: High school language arts

Hometown: Huntsville, Texas

Where I received my education: Sam Houston State University

Favorite movie: “The 13th Floor”

Favorite student moment (so far): Watching the Stanford vs. Notre Dame football from the Stanford sidelines with a student and rushing the field after a Stanford overtime win.

Why I chose to be a teacher: Because I firmly believe that every student has the power to save the world or destroy it.

Goal for this school year: To support the dreams and goals of each and every student.

One fun fact about me: I have an insane baseball card collection.

Name: Laura Moore

I will be teaching: High school science

Hometown: Alamosa

Where I received my education: Adams State College

Most recent teaching job: Seventh-grade science teacher in Pueblo

Favorite book: “The Chronicles of Narnia”

Favorite movie: “Meet the Robinsons”

Favorite student moment (so far): Seeing my students outside of school. Once one of them, several years later, said “hi” to me in town and exchanged phone numbers to keep in contact.

Why I chose to be a teacher: I like helping people and sharing and learning new information. Teaching seemed like the natural fit for that.

Goal for this school year: To collaborate with peers to provide quality, engaging curricula to students of all backgrounds and interests.

One fun fact about me: I enjoy cross-stitching and whitewater rafting.

I will be teaching: Fourth grade at Sandrock Elementary

Name: Kelly Sue Pyper

I will be teaching: FACS — Family and Consumer Science; culinary arts and clothing classes

Hometown: Ferron, Utah

Where I received my education: Southern Utah University in Cedar City, Utah

Most recent teaching job: Wayne County High School in Bicknell, Utah

Favorite book: “Eragon” and “Pride & Prejudice”

Favorite movie: “Pride & Prejudice”

Favorite student moment (so far): When you see that the student had an “aha” moment.

Why I chose to be a teacher: To take my God-given talents and skills and make a difference in the lives of my students.

Goal for this school year: To make a great connection with my students and know each one specifically.

One fun fact about me: I love books about dragons and stories from Britain.

Name: Lindsay Smith

I will be teaching: English and yearbook at MCHS

Hometown: Fort Collins

Where I received my education: University of Northern Colorado and Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Ariz.

Most recent teaching job: Alchesay High School in Whiteriver, Ariz.

Favorite book: “Tiger’s Curse”

Favorite movie: Currently, “The Hunger Games”

Favorite student moment (so far): During a unit on persuasive writing, my students had a great day of controlled arguing during a debate and every student was engaged.

Why I chose to be a teacher: I want to make a difference for students. Robin Williams was an inspirational teacher in “Dead Poets Society,” and I want to be just as effective.

Goal for this school year: I would like to connect with students as well as just enjoy what’s going on in our district and community.

One fun fact about me: I love to laugh, so I really like being around happy people.
