New program makes info sharing easier for veterans
Virtual Lifetime Electronic Records is a program designed to help veterans by sharing health information electronically, safely and privately between Veterans Affairs, the Department of Defense and selected private health care facilities that are members of the secure Nationwide Health Information Network.
So, if you have been treated for something in a private hospital and go to a VA hospital, the VA hospital can contact the private hospital and get an instant update on your condition without putting you through many tests.
This also pertains to going to a private hospital and health care personnel being able to access your health information from the VA hospital. If there is a life-threatening situation that arises, this program will speed up the time it takes to treat you.
I have the form in my office.
I urge all veterans to come in, fill out the form, and I will mail it to the VA hospital in Grand Junction.
Driving course scheduled for veterans’ van
This is for the people who are driving the veterans van.
If you have not attended the driving course offered by Moffat County previously, there will be courses May 16.
The first class is from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m., and the second class is from 6 to 9 p.m. Both classes will take place at the Moffat County Fairgrounds Pavilion.
I have also been told that by attending this class, you will get a break on your car insurance.
Van service unavailable April 30 through May 4
Just a heads up: the van will not be available for rides to Grand Junction the week of April 30 through May 4.
I will be attending my annual training in Denver. This training allows me to get updated and more confused on new forms, practices and rulings.
As an example, I have a news release from the VA stating 68 new forms will speed up the processing of veterans’ disability compensation and pension claims. This brings the total up to 71 forms.
Dates to remember:
• Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4265 is meeting at 7 p.m. Monday at the VFW post, 419 E. Victory Way.
• American Legion Post 62 is meeting at 7 p.m. Monday at the legion post, 1055 Moffat County Road 7.
