National Night Out is Aug. 4

National Night Out is a nationwide community policing program that promotes crime prevention activities, community safety programs, police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie for a safer America.

National Night Out in Craig is 5 to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 4. Members of the Craig Police Department, Moffat County Sheriff’s Office, Craig Regional Communication Center, Craig Fire/Rescue, Colorado State Patrol, Colorado State Parks, Colorado Division of Wildlife, The Memorial Hospital, Neighborhood Watch, CrimeStoppers and the Moffat County Victim’s Assistance Program will be at the Wendy’s parking lot in Craig for National Night Out.

At the event, there will be:

• Law enforcement, fire and ambulance vehicles on display.

• Giveaways for kids, including wristbands, badges and Frostys for children younger than 12.

• Appearances by Eddie Eagle, Red E Fox, McGruff and Wendy.

• K-9 units.

• Free child ID kits.

• Free bike registration.

• A child seat safety check station.

• Water safety information.

• Information on available community programs, including Neighborhood Watch.

On Aug. 4, residents are asked to leave their porch lights on as a national symbol against crime.
