National honor society members recognized

Old and new members of the Moffat County High School National Honor Society were recognized in a ceremony Tuesday night at MCHS.

The ceremony was held to induct new members into the association.

Janie Dunckley, president of the MCHS National Honor Society, gave a brief history of the association, then explained what it means to be a member.

With more than 20,000 chapters nation wide, the association is regarded as a concrete way to promote high academic standards, she told the audience.

Membership in the MCHS chapter of the National Honor Society is earned by demonstrating four qualities scholarship, service, leadership and character.

Old and new members stood and recited the National Honor Society pledge Tuesday night. Then each new member was called to the front to sign the association’s membership register.
