N. McStay: Swinging Bridge concerns

To the editor:

Recently, our family went out to the Browns Park area. We noticed that there is still a “bridge closed” sign to the Swinging Bridge. What is going on? Was there more damage to the bridge than what was reported? Who is paying for the damages to bridge? I hope no one says the county’s insurance. I could get my feathers ruffled if I hear that the person(s) responsible for the damage is not paying for the damages. Accountability people. If the county is going to turn this “accident” into their insurance what is that going to do to us as taxpayers? Will we have to pay more in taxes? I think this is a matter that the community needs to be aware of. Whatever happened to “you break it you buy it.”
