Multiple arrests made over Labor Day weekend : On the Record — Aug. 31; Sept. 1 through 3

Friday, Aug. 31

1:21 a.m. On the 700 block of Victory Way, officers with the Craig Police Department responded to a vehicle crash involving an SUV hitting a utility box. Officers were not able to locate the vehicle, but someone reported seeing it going east on U.S. Highway 40. Colorado State Patrol was able to make contact with the vehicle and issued the driver a citation for a hit-and-run.

7:03 a.m. At Yampa Valley Electric, officers made a traffic stop and arrested a 40-year-old Craig man from on suspicion of driving under restraint.

8:18 a.m. On the 800 block of Seventh Street, a caller reported theft of a bicycle.

11:54 a.m. On the 1100 block of Victory Way, officers responded to an alarm at a business. Upon arrival, they learned a worker was testing the fire systems and accidently set off an alarm.

1:26 p.m. On the 200 block of Victory Way, a caller reported seeing a suspicious man moving a package from one vehicle to another. Officers could not find the man.

1:37 p.m. On the 500 block of Finley Lane, officers recovered a lost bicycle and took it for safe keeping.

4 p.m. On the 2000 block of Victory Way, officers responded to an alarm at a business. They determined it was a false alarm.

6:17 p.m. In Craig, officers arrested a 34-year-old Craig man on suspicion of assault and child abuse.

8:47 p.m. On the 600 block of Fourth Street, a caller reported theft of a firearm. Officers were able to recover the firearm, but haven't verified it was stolen. The matter is under investigation..

8:48 p.m. On the 500 block of School Street, a caller reported a bicycle tire was slashed.

10 p.m. On U.S. Highway 40, a caller reported hitting an antelope. The antelope ran away. The vehicle sustained minor damage and was in drivable condition.

Saturday, Sept. 1

12:31 a.m. On the 900 block of Barclay Street, a caller reported seeing a suspicious man who appeared to be looking for someone. When officers made contact with the man, they learned he was looking for an address and determined there was no crime.

1:52 a.m. At the intersection of Fourth and Washington streets, officers made contact with a man who was sitting on the ground. They gave him a ride home.

2:43 a.m. On the 1200 block of Ninth Street, officers investigated a report of a suspicious vehicle. They determined no crime had been committed.

8:57 a.m. On the 3800 block of Sixth Avenue, a business owner requested a trespass notice to be issued.

11:43 a.m. On the 300 block of Washington Street, officers arrested a 24-year-old Craig woman on a warrant issued by other agencies.

2:40 p.m. At the intersection of Victory Way and Washington Street, officers attempted to arrest a man with a warrant. The man ran away and officers were not able to locate.

8:03 p.m. On the 1000 block of Victory Way, officers arrested a 30-year-old man from Craig for violating a restraining order and bail bonds violations.

9:10 p.m. On the 500 block of Seventh Avenue, a caller reported possible theft of their medication from their mailbox. Officers are investigating the issue.

10:46 p.m. On the 400 block of Washington Street, officers issued a warning to a homeowner for a bond fire in their backyard, citing a fire ban was in effect.

Sunday, Sept. 2

1:23 a.m. At the intersection of Barclay and Taylor streets, officers investigated a report of a suspicious man in an alley. The man fled, and officers could not find him.

1:25 a.m. At the intersection of Seventh and School streets, officers made contact with a man, believing it was the same man who had earlier run from them. They determined it was not the same man.

5:56 a.m. On the 800 block of Yampa Avenue, a caller reported seeing a man sleeping in a car. The man and the car were gone when officers arrived.

12:15 p.m. On the 200 block of Jeffcoat Street, a caller reported theft of a bicycle. Officers took a report.

1:31 p.m. On the 2000 block of Victory Way, a caller reported theft of a bicycle from the break area. Officers took a report.

3:39 p.m. On the 2300 block of Victory Way, officers arrested a 56-year-old Craig man on warrants from other agencies.

5:11 p.m. On the 200 block of Colorado Highway 13, officers responded to a report of two people trespassing. The people were issued a warning.

8:44 p.m. On the 2000 block of Victory Way, officers issued a summons to an 18-year-old Craig man on suspicion of shoplifting.

8:45 p.m. On the 500 block of Yampa Avenue, a caller reported seeing a suspicious man checking doors to see if they are unlocked. Officers were unable to locate the man.

10:40 p.m. On the 300 block of Stout Street, a caller reported arriving home to discover a door had been kicked in. Officers found nothing was stolen and are investigating.

Monday, Sept. 3

2:32 a.m. On the 700 block of Victory Way, officers investigated a report of a suspicious vehicle. They determined everything was OK.

11:31 p.m. At the intersection of Sixth and Ranney streets, officers found a license plate and turned it in to the Moffat County Clerk's Office to contact the owner.

2:51 p.m. On the 2000 block of Victory Way, officers responded to a two-car crash. One car struck another car in a parking lot. No citations were issued.

3:07 p.m. On the 3800 block of Sixth Street, officers recovered a stolen bicycle and returned it to its owner.
