Mountain Valley finishes bank remodel

MEEKER — Renovations on Mountain Valley Bank’s new Meeker home is complete and bank employees celebrated with an open house.

Bank President Bruce Clatterbaugh, said everyone was extremely pleased with how the old Oddfellows Hall has been transformed into a new bank facility.

“We couldn’t be happier,” Clatterbaugh said. “The contractor did a great job of finding the best craftsman in the field and they did a great job.”

Stewart Custom Construction from Carbondale served as the general contractor for the renovation with the majority of the work done by local sub-contractors. The 108-year-old building is registered with the Colorado Historical Society and to keep that status the remodel had to follow certain guidelines.

“We really wanted to keep the buildings integrity and that old west flavor,” he said. “And I think we did it.”

Joanie Tripe, new accounts representative, and teller, Kelly Shiver are glad to be out of the temporary building.

“It is so nice in here and so much work space,” Tripe said. “It is easy to come to work when it looks so nice.”

Tripe said she was delighted that the building was no longer just an empty old building and now has a purpose. “I hate to see old buildings just wasting away,” she said “Now the town has another whole useful block,” she said.

“It is just so pretty and makes me feel good to be an employee,” Shiver said.

The bank is owned by Platte Valley Financial of Nebraska and has branches in Walden, Hayden and Steamboat Springs. Construction is on going for the Hayden and Steamboat branches.
