Moffat County track teams compete
The Moffat County High School boys’ and girls’ track teams competed in the Grand Junction Central Invitational track meet Friday and Saturday.
Here are the top placers from MCHS.
Boys (ninth out of 24)
Andrew Drake, second, 200 m, 23.19; Derek Duran, third, 800 m, 2:01.3; Cory Pike, seventh, discus, 139’7″; 4×800 m relay team (Mike McNicol, Steven Crisp, Jake Miller, Derek Duran), fifth, , 8:28.33; 4×400 m relay team (Andrew Drake, Rowan Dubois, Peter Bacich, Derek Duran), sixth, 3:34.41; 4×100 m relay (Daniel Tague, Andrew Drake, Sam Weeldryer, Jake Bilodeau), seventh, 45.32; 4×200 m relay (Rowan Dubois, Sam Weeldryer, Cole Hausner, Andrew Drake, fifth, 1:34.4.
Girls (sixth out of 24)
Angela Nelson, fourth, 800 m, 2:30.28; Angie Charchalis, second, 800 m, 2:24.81; Emily Sperl, fifth, 1600 m, 5:38.21; Emily Sperl, fourth, 3200 m, 12:08.78; Amelia Parker, fifth, 3200 m, 12:09.66; 800 medley relay team (Kiera Moore, Jorgiea Raftopoulos, Anna Herring, Angie Charchalis), second, 1:56.14; 4×900 relay (Charchalis, Nelson, Sperl, J. Raftopoulos), first, 10:04.11.
Brannan leads rodeo team in Henderson
The Moffat County High School rodeo team competed in the Adams County All Stars’ Rodeo in Henderson Saturday and Sunday. Tia Brannan had the top all-around score for girls with four top-10 finishes. Brannan was eighth in breakaway roping, sixth in pole bending and second in goat tying on Saturday, and on Sunday, she was third in goat tying.
Other top-10 finishes for the local members were: Becky White, first in poles bending Saturday and seventh in barrel racings Sunday; Kendel Fawcett was seventh in pole bending and 10th in goat tying Sunday, and Janice McIntyre was 10th in poles. This weekend the team is in Eagle.

If a resident of Craig wanted to dive into how the city is spending its money on economic development, that resident wouldn’t get very far. A new city ordinance creating a department could change that.
