Moffat County tourism organization preps for John Wesley Powell’s 150th anniversary celebration
CRAIG — On Wednesday, Feb. 6, Moffat County Tourism Association and the Colorado Rural Academy for Tourism will continue their mission of reminding people what Northwest Colorado has to offer.
MCTA’s meeting will come first, at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Bank of Colorado, 350 W. Victory Way.
According to an agenda released Friday, chairman John Husband will lead strategic planning for the board’s upcoming March 13 retreat, a comprehensive marketing plan, a visitor center initiative, and event support planning.
The board’s marketing committee, led by Rebekah Greenwood, will provide updates on 2019 advertising contracts, advertising with a chamber of commerce publication, event advertising, a possible postage issue, and the 2019 official vacation guide.
Before opening the meeting to public comment, Larry Hoover will speak about special projects, including wayfinding signs and an update from the wayfinding committee, finalizing marketing plans for the Grand Junction Outdoor Expo Feb. 9, the 2019 Adventure Travel Show in Denver, and the June 17 Echo Park event.
At 4 p.m., CRAFT will begin its meeting. On the agenda is finalizing events for Experience Colorado’s Great Northwest Summer Kick-off, set for May 4 through 10.
CRAFT will also review a grant it was recently awarded and discuss the John Wesley Powell 150th anniversary celebration, set for June 17 in Echo Park June 17.
MCTA’s next regular board meeting is scheduled for 3 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13 in the Bank of Colorado building.
