The Moffat County High School girls varsity soccer team crushed the competition Tuesday during its game with Vail Christian, winning, 7-0.

The shutout of the Saints came complete with a hat trick by Delaney Baker and two goals each by Brittany Swindler and Alex Samuelson, as well as the second shutout of the year for goalie Hannah Walker.

“We started out a little sluggish, but then we calmed down and started playing,” said coach Harry Tripp. “It was good passing, good give-and-go’s, a good team effort today.”

The Bulldogs move to 6-5 overall and 5-2 in the 3A/2A Western Slope League with the victory over the Saints, who are 2-6, 0-5.

MCHS will next host Roaring Fork at 4 p.m. Friday for the team’s Senior Night. Tripp said his players are looking forward to the occasion after the sizable win.

“It pumped them up,” he said. “We’re ready to go.”
