Moffat County soccer dominates Rangely for 2nd straight win

Moffat County’s girls soccer team kept its strong offense going with a 9-0 win at Rangely on Friday.

With the victory, the Bulldogs improved to 2-3 this season and have won two in a row heading into spring break next week. It was the way coach Harry Tripp hoped the team would finish before the break.

“It’s good to have the momentum,” Tripp said. “They were all pumped, and we had a lot of fans there cheering us on. It was a good confidence booster.”

Forward Jazmine Swindler had four goals, Allie Ehlers added two, and Brittany Walker, Tori Snyder and Jodi Hough tacked on the remaining three for Moffat County. The Bulldogs had a 4-0 lead at halftime, but Tripp said it was sloppier play than he would prefer to see.

“In the first half, we were kind of sluggish, trying to figure some things out,” he said. “We went back down and player our positions and played better in the second half.”

Without a junior varsity game scheduled against Rangely, Tripp was pleased to give the JV players time at the end of the game. Hough took advantage, getting her first goal of the year.

The Bulldogs do not play next week, traveling to Basalt on April 11 to make up a rescheduled game from March 16 in their first contest after break.
