The Moffat County Sheriff’s Office is in need of a posse to help them handle a public enemy: a dimpled disruptor of the peace and its skinny accomplice.

The Sheriff’s Office annual golf tournament will take place with tee times beginning at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Yampa Valley Golf Course.

Flyers for the scramble tournament, a fundraiser for college scholarships for local students, are in the style of a “Wanted” poster, offering a bounty for the capture of “a no-good, round varmint” and “pinhead friend” — a golf ball and tee — for the charges of bringing about excessive strokes on the course, as well as “causing hate and discontent” and “all-around good people to curse and throw fits.”

Registration is $60 per person or $240 for a team of four and includes green and cart fees, as well as a bucket of balls on the driving range.

Signups will be limited to the first 36 teams. Door prizes and a silent auction will also be available during the day’s events with items provided by a wide variety of local businesses, as well as prize money for the best net and gross scores.

“It’s not just for really good golfers who golf all the time, and we’ll have payouts based on handicaps,” said Undersheriff Charlene Abdella. “We’re hoping to have a good sunny day for this for people to get out there and finally get golfing.”

Forms are available at the Moffat County Public Safety Center, 800 W. First St., or at Yampa Valley Golf Course, 2179 Highway 394. For more information, call 970-824-FORE (3673) or 970-826-2306.
