Moffat County School District sets policy for school lunch discounts

Craig Daily Press Staff Report

The Moffat County School District has set its policy for school lunch discounts for the 2011-12 school year.

The discounts, which include free meals and reduced price meals, apply to students from families whose income levels are at a certain level.

A family with one child is eligible for free meals if their yearly income does not exceed $14,157. For each child a family has, the maximum income increases by $4,966.

For example, a family with two children is eligible if household income is $19,123 or less, while a three-child family's maximum is $24,089.

For reduced price meals, the maximum household income is $20,147. For each child in the family, the amount is increased by $7,067.

Applications for free and reduced price meals are being provided to all homes with a letter to parents. Information provided on the forms is confidential and will only be used to determine eligibility and verify data. Additional copies are available in the principal's office of each school.
