Moffat County responders to train in mass casualty drill Saturday
Multiple Northwest Colorado agencies will participate in a mass casualty incident drill Saturday morning along Industrial Avenue in Craig.
The drill takes place from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and is designed to simulate an emergency scenario, specifically a pipeline leak complete with fire and injuries.
Law enforcement including Moffat County Sheriff’s Office, Craig Police Department and Colorado State Patrol will be participating in the exercise, as will Classic Air Medical, Memorial Regional Health’s Emergency Medical Services and West Routt Fire Protection District.
Tom Soos with Moffat County Office of Emergency Management, said the drill will utilize burning props obtained through a $50,000 Hazardous Materials Emergency Preparedness Grant.
“At the end of the day, it helps everyone because it provides training for years to come,” he said.
The Friends of the Hayden Library will host the second annual Art Show Opening Night from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2 at Hayden Public Library, 201 E. Jefferson Ave.
