As is befitting a Homecoming week modeled after the “Barbie” franchise, there was a lot of pink in the Moffat County gym Wednesday night.
The annual Macho Volleyball tournament was bigger than ever as MCHS guys outdid themselves with costumes for the sporting event.
The tourney included seven teams — six student groups and one comprised of teachers — with MoCo volleyball players coaching and officiating.
The size of the event led to two games at a time on the court in five rounds.

Winning the whole shebang was a team of seniors named simply Hi — donning pink tank tops and tutus — going to extra points at 18-15 over the faculty group, Prestige Worldwide.
Hi was coached by Jordis White and Mara Beckett with a roster including Alejandro Tarango, Aron Aguilar, Evan Beaver, Edgar Hernandez, Zeke Alcantar, Bryant Carlson, Brayan Tarango, Zaylan Kirby and Hudson Jones.
While the group went on to fall 25-14 to the varsity volleyball girls, Jones said the victories beforehand made the night enjoyable.
“We played quite a few games and didn’t have a lot of practice, so we did better than we thought we would,” Jones said. “It was the best year for me in Macho Volleyball. We beat the teachers — that’s all that matters.”
