Oppose 47, 49 and 54
To the editor:
We, the members of the Moffat County Education Association, would like to urge voters to oppose ballot issues 47, 49 and 54.
We are a voluntary union of 170 teachers and support staff. We are proud to belong to a group that advocates for school funding, class size, CSAP, salary, benefits and retirement.
MCEA has joined with firefighters, police officers and health care workers across the state to oppose these three amendments for a very simple reason: They silence our voices as public employees.
As public servants, we have stood up for public school students and employees and have a collaborative working relationship with the school district.

People who are not pro-public education and do not agree with our positions on education want to interfere with our contracts and working relationship with the school district.
They want to make it harder for our members to join, work together and advocate for our students and fellow employees. They want to take away our personal choice to pay our union dues through our paychecks. They want to silence our voices by taking away our right to participate in the political process. It’s that simple.
These ballot issues attack our choice and our voice. Members of the Moffat County Education Association urge voters to reject 47, 49 and 54. Keep our choice and our voice alive.
Vote no on 47, 49 and 54.
