Moffat County Commissioner July 8 meeting recap
At their regular Tuesday meeting, Moffat County commissioners:
• Approved, 3-0, a special events permit for a beer garden for the Veterans of Foreign Wars at the annual Balloon Fest.
• Discussed the Road and Bridge Department’s monthly report. Commissioners are awaiting an assessment by the state engineer to determine what needs to be done to fix Swinging Bridge. There will be a meeting 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Ambulance Garage in Maybell to discuss how people can access emergency services while the Maybell bridge is under construction. The department also is cleaning up slides and ditches in Wilderness Ranch.
• Approved, 3-0, the termination of a memorandum of understanding with the Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association and the Moffat County Department of Social Services.
• Discussed fundraising ideas with the Senior Center Action Group. The Board of County Commissioners said it would approve donating space for the group’s sock hop fundraiser. But it would wait to officially approve it until the group came back with a confirmed date.

Some students are choosing to chart their own course after graduation, bucking the conventional path of college or trade school, but with no less ambition than their degree-seeking peers. Moffat County High School senior Tyler Gonzales is one such student, who has chosen to dive into a full-time job at Chaos Ink after graduating and feed his passion for design and entrepreneurialism.
