Moffat County Commissioner July 15 meeting recap

At their regular Tuesday meeting, Moffat County commissioners:

• Discussed the state of the Craig/Moffat Economic Development Partnership and broadband issues with Audrey Danner, director of the organization. Danner said she wants to overturn a Colorado law that blocks government entities from being involved in broadband. She proposed brining legal language to the BOCC for a ballot measure that would be on the November ballot.

• Approved, 3-0, hiring a temporary welder for the Road and Bridge Department for the duration of the Maybell bridge construction.

• Approved, 3-0, hiring a family engagement facilitator for the Social Services Department with state funds.

• Reviewed the valuation report with Moffat County Assessor Robert Razzano. Craig valuations are up this report because of good oil and coal production in 2012. But Razzano projected that the next valuation report will go down with lower production.
