Craig — At the weekly Moffat County Commissioners meeting, commissioners discussed and decided on the following topics:
During general discussion:
Moffat County’s newest Commissioner Frank Moe updated fellow commissioners and the community on training he attended conducted by Colorado Counties Incorporated. The training was a comprehensive three-day program and covered most topics Moe will have to tackle, including ethics, county administration and legislative training.
“The number one lesson I learned was it’s not about me, it’s about our county and our community, and they drove that lesson very well,” Moe said.
Commissioner John Kinkaid said he plans to attend a meeting Monday at the state capitol with Gov. John Hickenlooper. Representatives from Rio Blanco and Garfield counties will also be in attendance.

After giving their updates, the commissioners approved a community services block grant for the Department of Social Services 3-0. The grant comes from the Department of Local Affairs and helps with public transportation in Craig, Kinkaid explained.
The Department of Social Services Self Sufficiency Manager Laura Willems gave commissioners a positive update on Moffat County’s child support program.
She said the federal government has four goals passed down through the state and Moffat County’s program has met or exceeded all four goals. Those goals include having a certain percentage of cases with paternity establishment, court orders for child support, collecting current support and collecting past support.
“It’s always exceptional to meet every goal but in this economy, especially in Moffat County, the fact that they were able to meet these goals, that’s exceptional,” Director of Social Services Kerri Klein said.
The commissioners finished the meeting by appointing open county board seats.
