Moffat County Booster Club to meet Wednesday: Craig Sports Briefs for Jan. 24, 2018

Moffat County Booster Club will host an informational meeting at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Moffat County High School library, 900 Finley Lane.

The organization is seeking to boost its membership numbers and fill vacancies in its board.

The club’s purpose is to support local students’ extracurricular activities and athletics through community sponsorships and other efforts.

Booster Club banners that are on display during Bulldog activities help provide money for MCHS events, and teams and groups with the school can also request additional funding for various needs.

Registration open for Moffat County Youth Wrestling

Registration is now open for Moffat County Youth Wrestling’s season. The program is offered for boys and girls ages 6 to 12 to learn and grow in the sport.

MCYW, initially open for ages 4 to 14, changed its age requirements this year, though athletes who competed last year aged 4, 5, 12 or 13 are still eligible.

Eligibility is based on a child’s age as of April 7, 2018.

Forms are available on the Moffat County Youth Wrestling Facebook page.

Official practices begin the week of March 26, with the junior team for ages 6 to 8 working Mondays and Wednesdays and senior team 9 to 12 Tuesdays and Thursdays at Craig Middle School, 915 Yampa Ave.

Meets will begin in April and will include a home event hosted by MCYW.

Costs includes $40 for the program — with discounts for siblings — a $30 pre-registration tournament fee for the season — not including the MCYW home event, free to members — and a $50 refundable deposit for equipment.

Parents are responsible for transportation to and from all tournaments, which will include events in Rangely, Craig, Hayden and Rifle.

Organizers will host an official registration event from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Feb. 20 at Craig City Hall Council Chambers, 300 W. Fourth St. Parents are asked not to mail or drop off registration materials to City Hall at any other time.

Registration complete with fees and wrestlers’ information can be mailed to the following address:
